Lastminute.com has agreed an exclusive white label deal with
Lowcost Travel Group to enhance the its holiday offering.
Existing suppliers to lastminute.com affected by the deal have
been advised this week that their existing contracts will be
terminated.
The partnership marks another coup for the Low Cost group, it
having beaten On Holiday Group to
power the re-launched easyJet Holidays venture.
The new lastminute.com holiday offering is expected to go live
by the fourth quarter of this year and will see Lowcost provide the
OTA with a wide range of product from long-haul to short-haul,
beach, city and ski.
Confirming news of the deal to Travolution today, a
lastminute.com spokeswoman said: "We're pleased to announce an
exciting new development.
"In partnership with the Lowcost Travel Group we are in the
process of enhancing our UK holiday offering by working with an
expanded range of beach, ski and long-haul operators.
"Using the Lowcost Travel Group's expertise and leading edge
technology, this will result in lastminute.com customers getting
access to a greater selection of holidays and improved on-line
shopping experience, all still under the lastminute.com brand."
Lowcost is a user of, and investor in, travel technology firm Intuitive
which operates the Ivector tour operating system which is
credited with Low Cost's recent rise to prominence.
Tim Buckman, Low Cost Travel Group sales director said: "Lowcost
Travel Group is delighted to be working with lastminute.com.
"We feel that the expanded product, provided by a range of
suppliers, along with improved online shopping experience powered
by Intuitive Ivector, will significantly enhance the lastminute.com
holiday offering."
As well as easyJet Holidays, Lowcost Travel Group operates its
Lowcostholidays.co.uk consumer-facing brand which has a sizeable
long-haul programme.
The group also consists of transfer supplier Resorthoppa and
cruise travel agency Ideal Cruising.
